Enhance Your Surroundings

Fountains have been in use since centuries. The first fountains were built to provide water and were solely utilitarian. As  civilizations prospered, the fountains became more intricate and with a lot of carvings depicting animals, people and  landscapes. Water being a precious commodity especially in places where it was sparse fountains provided water to drink and  also provide some cool relief from the sun. In the Islamic world water fountains were used expansively by the rulers to  beautify their surroundings and also to show off status.

This also can be seen in other civilizations, like the Greek and  Roman civilizations; the wealthy always built heavy gilded and elaborate fountains as a sign of their prosperity. The  importance of fountains declined after indoor plumbing became a part of everyday life. Of course the water fountains charms  still exist, although in miniature versions. Today it is too costly to maintain a huge or elaborate water fountain. Most  gardens today have garden fountains to create a picturesque environment. These fountains do not use a lot of power or water  to run yet provide the same charm and elegance of the older versions.

Feng Shui advises keeping a water fountain in a  particular space of the house to direct good energy as in their principle flowing water is a sign of good and positive  energy. It refers to good luck and prosperity especially bringing in wealth and money. There are wide range of water  fountains available in many sizes and shapes suiting every kind of budget. Garden fountains are very much in, as they  complement the garden and bring a cool ambience to the garden, they are usually fixed to the ground with proper water piping  done for it to function. Tabletop fountains are also a favorite and can be seen in many restaurants as well as residences.

They serve as an excellent centre piece doubling as a place for people to sit and eat around lending a picknicky air to the  meal. Outdoor fountains are the newest fad. These are suited for the garden. They can be placed any where in the garden and  are easy to move around and operate. They are lightweight and can be easily put in the garden or balcony enhancing one’s  personal space. All they need is an ouput to be plugged into and you get a gurgling fountain to refresh your day. It is a  perfect addition that will fit in beautifully in your garden especially the summer making you the envy of your neighbourhood.
