Come summer, everyone finds reasons to do more stuff outside and absorb as much of the sun as they can. People organise pool parties, barbecues, brunches, dinner nights all kept outside. Then come the football matches, or baseball or hockey, any sport. One way to incorporate both the match and the food and the lovely weather, is to put in an outdoor tv.
A lot of pubs, restaurants and local bars, even café’s have put up outdoor tv and provided good couches or chairs with good food and drinks to make their customer comfortable. With the smoking ban being enforced everywhere indoors, as this is outdoors this option works out well. Aside from outdoor furniture and décor maintained and offers made to make customers walk in, the outdoor tv too has to be correct. There are certain obstacles one has to overcome to install a TV outside; an output has to be available for it to be plugged in, place chosen should be at the right angle.
The material used to encase the tv should be of good quality teak. It should be sheltered so that it does not get damaged in case of sudden downpour. Being outside the electronic good is exposed to a lot of dust which can damage the TV if not taken care of; size too should be accurate so that everyone present in the area can see the TV and it should be accompanied by good speakers to be able to hear the commentary. Plasma or an LCD television varying in the size of 20” to 70” is most often chosen. At some places instead of a television, a screen projector is installed so that the display is large enough and the management does not have to worry about damage that may occur with a TV.
The projector can be controlled right from the bar or the DJ’s console thus reducing on interference from other people especially those who would change the channel or try to break the TV in case of a fight as a worst case scenario. Outdoor TV are especially made to last in the outdoors, they are built to withstand the temperatures which can be either elevated or glacial There are protective outdoor cabinets designed to safeguard the television. The cabinets are normally made out of teak to endure weather fluctuations. Most places install an Outdoor TV only in warm weather as a cold or wet environment would damage the TV from humidity or build up of condensation.
